Accepting these terms
These terms cover your use of this website and any insulation work you hire Sealcraft Durham Insulation Company to do. By using the site, asking for an estimate or scheduling a job with us, you agree to them.
If you don't agree, please don't use the site or book work with us. If something here is unclear, ask us before the job starts through our contact page or by calling (919) 246-8605.
What we do
We're an insulation contractor in Durham, NC, and we work on attics, walls, crawl spaces, basements and the room over the garage, along with air sealing, which means closing gaps before insulation goes in. You can read more about who we are on our About page, and the home page lists the services and cities we work in.
What you see on this website is general information about the trade, so it isn't advice about your house and it isn't a quote. The scope of your job is whatever your written estimate or agreement says.
Estimates and pricing
Estimates are free and on site, and asking for one puts you under no obligation. We base the price on what we can see and reach during the visit, so it depends on how much old insulation is up there, how easy the space is to get into and the material you choose.
Some things only show up once the work is open, like old insulation that's soaked or full of droppings and has to come out first. When that happens, we stop, explain what we found and get your OK before doing extra work or changing the price.
An estimate is good for the period written on it. After that, material costs may have changed, so we'll confirm the price again before scheduling.
Scheduling, access and cancellation
We set a start date with you once you accept the estimate. Weather, material delivery and conditions we find on site can move that date, and if they do, we'll tell you as soon as we know.
On the work day, we need clear access to the work area, a path for hoses and equipment, and pets kept out of the way. When the job uses spray foam, everyone, including kids and pets, has to stay out for the re-entry time, which is the wait before it's safe to come back inside, and we'll tell you how long that is before we start.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us as early as you can. If you cancel after we've ordered materials for your job or the crew is already on the way, you may owe the costs we've already taken on, as your agreement states.
Payment
The amount you owe, when it's due and how you can pay are set out in your written estimate or agreement. Please read that part before you sign, and ask if anything doesn't add up.
If a payment is late, we may pause work that hasn't been finished yet until the account is brought current, and we may recover reasonable collection costs where North Carolina law allows.
Warranties and what we don't promise
Any warranty on our work or on a product is the one written in your agreement or given by the maker of the material. Other than those, our work and this website are provided as is, to the extent the law allows.
Insulation usually makes a house more comfortable and can lower the power bill, but we don't promise a set amount of savings, because that depends on how you use your home, your heating and cooling equipment and things outside our job. We also aren't responsible for problems that were already in the house, like roof leaks, plumbing leaks, mold or pests, unless we agreed in writing to fix them.
Limits on our liability
We aren't liable for indirect or follow-on losses, such as lost use of a room, lost income or higher utility costs. Our total liability for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.
These limits don't apply where North Carolina law says they can't, and they don't change the coverage we carry as a licensed and insured contractor.
If we disagree
Call us first, because most problems get settled by coming back out and looking at the work together. If that doesn't settle it, we'll both try in good faith to reach an agreement, which can include mediation, before either of us goes to court.
Any lawsuit about our work or these terms goes to the state or federal courts serving Durham County, North Carolina.
Which law applies
These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, regardless of where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted here is the one in effect. Changes won't apply to a job you already signed for unless we both agree in writing.
Questions about these terms can go through our contact page or to (919) 246-8605, and we reply within one business day.
